Body of text  ROBERT SIMSON MACNICOL, born 20th January 1906 at Kalna, Bengal, son of Malcolm Macnicol, MD, and Mary Harriet Simson, LRCP & S; educated at Edinburgh Merchiston Castle School 1915-23, University of St Andrews 1923-8, MA, Edinburgh New College 1929-33; student assistant St George's West 1932; licensed by Presbytery of Edinburgh 1933; ordained by same Presbytery as missionary Professor of English, Madras Christian College 21st May 1933; became presbyter of Church of South India September 1947. Married 29th March 1942, Eona Kathleen, born 12th May 1910, daughter of John Fraser and Anna Stewart, Inverness, and has issue, Malcolm Fraser, born 18th March 1943; Elisabeth Mary, born 3rd September 1944; John Simpson, born 13th November 1947.
