Details of Inscription  In loving memory of Alexander Shewan. Surgeon General Indian Army who died 16th April 1881. Also his beloved son Alec who died 4th April 1876 aged 17 and his daughters Jane Mary Shewan died 18th July 1906 and Elizabeth Jane Palmer died 21 February 1912. Also his beloved wife Jane Mary Shewan died 18 July 1918 aged 86 and Sophia Jane Shewan daughter died 13 Feb 1925 aged 72 - her ashes are beneath this stone.
