Register Entry  At Cochin on the 24th June Sappoorjee Heerjee Esq aged 53 years. The loss of this liberal and talented Parsee will be felt and acknowledged by a large circle of friends and acquaintances. As ship-owner and merchant he ranked for many years as one of the first on the Malabar and Travancore Coasts and he had done a great deal towards extending the trade of the port he resided at, by urging on Government the advantage of opening roads and abolishing local taxes on produce in transit to it by the extensive back water communication it possesses, as well as by erecting screws for pressing cotton and other produce.
