Register Entry  At Tripoli on the 27th Feb after a short illness aged 70 John Dickson MD Surgeon RN after a service of 50 years leaving a widow five sons and three daughters to mourn the loss of a most affectionate husband and father whose whole life while he never had an enemy was marked by christian piety kindness charity and love to all. This most excellent man held for many years the responsible situation of superintendent of health at Tripoli where his death is an irreparable loss to the numerous poor of all religions classes and descriptions to whose ailments and infirmities he daily afforded his unwearied and gratuitous assistance during his long residence of 33 years at that Regency where his memory will be gratefully cherished by thousands indebted to his professional skill and unbounded humanity
