Present in the Bolan Pass, in the vicinity of Khelat-i-Ghilzie, when.it was stormed. Was with, the Regiment when it resisted successfully a night attack of the defeated troops, Merab Khan. Present in Ghilzie Campaign, 40, and in the action at Abee Tazae, 16th May 40, when the Ghilzies were defeated. Present throughout the siege of Chereekar, and commanded 6th Goorkha Regiment, when it was cut to pieces. (Badly wounded and lost right hand.) Present with Army at Cabul during the siege. Left in the hospital in the hands of the enemy, under General Elphinstones capitulation, and remained in the hands of the enemy till September 42. Served with Broadfoots Sappers and Miners during the re-occupation of Cabul and march from Affghanistan. Served in seven affairs, where the enemy were defeated, during 46, 47, with the Ramghur Battalion. Has received a pension of £90 for wounds at Chereekar, and in consideration of conduct. (Has received no Medal for the Campaign in Affghanistan, and was promised the Brevet of Major, which he subsequently did not obtain.) |
