Accidentally drowned at Helstone, Cornwall, aged 36, the Rev. James Henry Scudamore Burr, Priest-Vicar of Exeter cathedral. He was the younger son of Lieut.-Gen. Daniel Burr, of the East India Company's service, by his second wife Mary, dau. and heiress of James Davis, esq. of Chepstow, and coheiress of Frances Dowager Duchess of Norfolk, being a descendant of John Higford, esq. who married a sister of John Lord Scudamore of Home Lacy. Hence his name of Scudamore. He was of Christ church, Oxford, B.A. 1831, M.A. 1838. He has left a widow. |
