In the mutiny of 1857, he was under Sir Colin Campbell, and engaged in the Azimghar and Jaunpur districts, in the advance on Lucknow, its siege and capture, at the reliefs of Azimghar in 1858, and in the Jagdishpur jungles : Adjutant-General in India, 1866-9 : K.C.B. and C.S.I. : died Jan. 29, 1890. |
