At the time of the siege of Trichinopoly, he was fighting on the side of Chanda Sahib, but his ""vacillation"" has been blamed for the failure of the latter : afterwards he was appointed C. in C. of the troops of the French E. I. Co. : died 1767, at the Isle of France, on his way out to Pondicherry. |
