Entry  Born Aug. 18, 1866 : succeeded his father in 1869, when a Regency was established : he was invested with full power by Lord Ripon, when Viceroy and Governor-General, and assumed charge of his Government, Feb. 5, 1884 : has more than once offered to the Government of India the services of his troops, and in 1887 offered a present of 60 lakhs for frontier defence : he is the Premier Prince of the Indian Empire : G.C.S.I., 1884 : G.C.B., 1903.
