	Entry	Eldest son of the first Viscount Hardinge (g.v.), the Governor-General : born Sep. 12, 1822 : educated at Eton and Christ Church, Oxford : was Private Secretary to his father the whole time the latter was Governor-General, 1844-8 : M.P. for Downpatrick, 1851-6 : succeeded to the Peerage, 1856 : Under Secretary for War, 1858-9 : a good amateur artist : a volume, Recollections of India, published from his drawings : he wrote a life of his father for the "" Rulers of India"" series. He died 28th July 1894.
