Entry  Son of Thomas Goldney : born Nov. 21, 1802 : educated privately : entered the E.I. Co.'s Bengal Army, 1821 : served in Sind, from 1844 : became Collector- Magistrate there : in the expedition to the Trucki hills : had great influence over the Beluchis : increased the area of canal cultivation : commanded a Brigade sent to annex Oudh : in charge of the Faizabad Division, when the mutiny of 1857 broke out : fortified the town : compelled to leave in boats : killed at Begamji, on the Gogra, 30 miles from Faizabad, about June 9, 1857.
