Register Entry  At Contai on the 11th September of three days fever in the 46th year of his age John Henry Barlow Esq Salt Agent at Hidjelle elder surviving son of Sir Geo. H Barlow Bart. By the demise of this estimable officer the government has lost an able, zealous and conscientious servant: while society has been deprived of a member whose lite may be truly said to have been a happy illustration of the harmonious union of uncompromising integrity with invariably winning and gentlemanly demeanour: the result of practical but unobtrusive piety and the sweetest christian charity.
