Eyre : educated at Harrow and Christ Church, Oxford : joined 2nd Battalion Rifle Brigade, 1855 : present at siege and fall of Sebastopol : A.D.C. to Lt-General, Sir W. Eyre, 1855 : served with Rifle Brigade through the Indian mutiny, 1857-8 : present at taking of Lucknow, siege of Kalpi, etc. : commanded 4th Notts R.V., 1865-92 : C.B., 1897.
