He was an excellent Tamil and Sanskrit scholar : published a commentary and translation of The Sacred Kurral, and exposed the forgery of Sanskrit MSS. at Pondicherry by Jesuit missionaries : he wrote papers on the Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam languages, and was an expert authority on "" Mirasi right "": and on information regarding the Madras Presidency. |
