He was employed by the Maharaja of Kashmir, from 1862, to search for minerals and supervise his forest administration, and was Governor of Ladak : retired after 10 years. He was a science master at Eton, 1879-91, and died Oct. 28, 1891. He wrote The Jammu and Kashmir Frontiers, and The Northern Barrier of India : F.G.S. in 1858, and Member of its Council, 1874-6. |
