M. Elliot's History of India as told by its own Historians, 8 vols., 1867-77 : and a Classical Dictionary of Hindu Mythology and Religion, Geography, History and Literature, 1879 : wrote also for the Encyclopedia Britannica, and the Royal Asiatic Society, on Indian Inscriptions and the Indian Alphabet : died Aug. 23, 1881.
