Body of text  CHREE, WILLIAM, born Keig, Aberdeenshire, 10th February 1863, son of George C, MA, schoolmaster, and Helen Johnstone; educated at Keig School, Old Grammar School, and University of Aberdeen; MA (1882), BD (1886); licensed by Presbytery of Alford May 1886; assistant at Wemyss October 1886 to March 1893; minister at Wolfendahl, Ceylon, October 1893 to October 1894; [ordained March 1894]; acting chaplain at Fyzabad, MP, India, February to September 1895, Meerut, November 1895 to March 1896; appointed Principal of Church of Scotland College, Madras, March 1896; died unmarried at Madras, 31st July 1911.
