Body of text  MACFARLANE, ANDREW, born Urray, Ross-shire, 28th October 1875, son of John Adam M, minister of that parish; educated at University of Glasgow; MA (1897), BD (1900); licensed by Presbytery of Dingwall May 1900; assistant at Carrick Castle, Lochgoilhead, Largs, St Mungo's, Glasgow; ordained (by Presbytery of Glasgow) to Indian chaplaincy September 1902; senior chaplain to Forces in Mesopotamia (at Baghdad) 1917-18, Alexandria, Egypt, 1919; DSO (1919) and four times mentioned in despatches; senior Presidency chaplain Bengal 1922; retired 1925; DD (Glasgow 1925); locum tenens at Jedburgh, 1925-6. Married 21st February 1922, May, younger daughter of James Pendleton, Sydney, New South Wales.
