Body of text  CANT, ALAN, born Kampti, India, 27th December 1870, son of David C, major 79th (Cameron) Highlanders, and Mary Suttie; educated at Madras College, St Andrews, and University of St Andrews; MA (1891). BD (1893), BSc (1893); licensed by Presbytery of St Andrews 3rd May 1893; assistant to Professor of Hebrew, University of St Andrews, and at East Parish, Aberdeen; ordained to Indian chaplaincy 28th October 1897 ; admitted minister of Creich, Fife, 12th August 1925. Married 4th November 1898, Mary Leggat Watson, daughter of James Bryce and Mary Leggat, and has issue - Marjorie Stuart, born 3rd April 1905; Alan Graham, born 19th May 1907; Ronald Gordon, born 16th December 1908.
