Body of text  ALEXANDER YOUNG, born Birsemore, son of Charles Young, farmer, Birse, and Christina Alexander ; eucated at Birse School and Marischal College, Aberdeen ; MA (1851) ; licensed by Presbytery of Kincardine O'Neil ; assistant at Aboyne ; minister at Kandy and St Andrews, Colombo, Ceylon ; inducted 15th January 1874 ; died at Cults, 10th March 1913. He married 4th October 1864, Helen Maitland (died 27th March 1900), daughter of George Cook, DD, minster of Kincardine O'Neil, and had issue - Charles Maitland, born 13th August 1865 ; Mary AgnesWatson, born 1st September 1866 Helen Maitland, born 24th May 1869 (married -- Hogan) ; George Alexander, born 1st June 1873 ; John Elphinstone, born 26th August 1874 ; Andrew Watson Cook, lieutenant-Colonel Indian Medical Service, born 25th February 1876 ; Alexander Norman, born 7th November 1878.
