Body of text  GEORGE JOHNSTONE CHREE, born Keig, Aberdeenshire, 14th July 1864, son of George Chree, MA, schoolmaster, and Helen Johnstone, educated at Keig School, Old Aberdeen Grammar School, and University of Aberdeen, MA (1885), BD (1888), licensed by Presbytery of Alford May 1888, assistant at Holburn, Aberdeen, ordained by Presbytery of Aberdeen, 3rd July 1889, and appointed by Colonial Committee chaplain at Rawal Pindi and Murree, India, appointed chaplain to Indian Ecclesiastical Establishment (Bengal) 17th March 1892, chaplain of St Andrew's Church, Allahabad, September 1892 to November 1903, chaplain at Meerut and Chahrata, 1904-5, appointed chaplain of St Andrew's Church, Calcutta, July 1905, appointed Presidency senior chaplain (Bengal) in 1906, admitted to this parish (Kirriemuir � South Church) 14th May 1913, demitted 18th May 1921. Married 14th August 1889, Helen Robertson Hay, daughter of William Forsyth Arthur, Broomhill Park, Aberdeen, and has issue � Helen Hay Arthur Johnstone, born 17th May 1890 (Married Mitchell Stewart), George William Johnstone, MC, captain 2nd Battalion Royal Scots, born 9th September 1893, killed in action on the Somme, France, 14th July 1916, May Arthur, born 20th October 1895 (Married 14th June 1921, Norman Birrell, Calcutta).
