Body of text  ROBERT KERR HAMILTON fifth son of Daniel H, of Gilkerscleugh; educated at University of Edinburgh ; MA (30th March 1833) ; licensed by Presbytery of Inveraray 11th December, 1833 ; presented by Andrew Fletcher of Saltoun, and ordained 10th April, 1834 ; translated to the junior chaplaincy HEIC, at Madras, 22nd August and admitted 3rd October, 1839 ; promoted to the chaplaincy there in 1848, which he demitted in 1858 ; died at Edinburgh 18th January, 1865. He married 7th January, 1845, Susan Ann Sophia Churchill (died 13 November 1866) daughter of George Trevor Spencer, DD, Bishop of Madras. Publications - The India Mission, an address (Edinburgh, 1850) ; Account of the Parish (New Stat. Acc,ii).
