Served with 32nd Foot throughout Punjab campaign 1848-9 at Mooltan and Goojerat. With 28th Foot in Crimea 1854-6 Alma, Inkerman and Sebastopol. Commd Vol. Sharpshooters of 3rd Divn in Crimea for 76 days, 5 class Medjidie. Served in India duing latter part of Mutiny 1858-9. Ret. 1881 as Col. with hon. rank of Maj-Gen. Army & Navy Club. The Cottage, Burghclere, nr. Newbury Hants.
