Rivett-Carnac and Sir G. Arthur : retired in 1844 : in 1849 was knighted and appointed Governor of the Mauritius, but after 16 months was transferred to Ceylon as Governor, and made K.C.B. : resigned in 1855 : died March 12, 1857. |
