Register Entry  At Calcutta on the 8th March at the residence of P Turnbull esq Harrington Street major C E Davis late of the H C military establishment aged 53 years Major Davis was for many years principal assistant to the late general Farquhar governor of Singapore and had just resigned the service preparatory to returning to his native land after a long and faithful service of 36 years He has left a large circle ot friends to lament the loss of much sterling unassuming worth for few people were more beloved and respected for his many amiable qualities than the late major Davis
