Register Entry  At Ferozepoor on the night of the 15th February Lieutenant D Beatson late Acting Quarter Master and Interpreter of the 1st European Light Infantry, of lockjaw, consequent on a wound received at Sobraon on the 10th February when attacking the enemy's entrenched camp; he was severely wounded at Ferozeshuhur being attached to the regiment as one of the regimental staff and had only just rejoined it from the Ferozepore field hospital. Every officer of this regiment laments his loss as that of a brave and gallant soldier; his sterling worth, zeal and gentlemanly conduct endeared him to them all and they have a melancholy satisfaction in common with the officers of his own regiment, the 14th NI, in thus testifying their sentiment of esteem and regret
