Register Entry  In the heat of action at Chillianwallah on the 13th Jan generally and most deeply regretted by all who had the happiness to know him Major Charles Ekins Deputy-Adjutant-General of the Army. Whether as a public officer or as a private friend he was equally deserving of esteem and his numerous friends will long remember with sincere respect and regret one whose equable manner and m.... b... and most honourable disposition and conduct, were on every occasion so marked and so worthy of emulation and confidence. His friends and colleagues in office will deeply mourn one whose loss cannot be replaced or supplied
