CommentThese are summaries of the Services of Service of Madras Civil Servants entering the Service from 1740 to 1858. Evidently, several of them continued to serve beyond this date.

The data are transcribed from the book compiled by Charles Prinsep published by Truebner & Co in 1885.

Summary of Service  1789: Writer. 1790: Assistant under the Secretary in the Public and Revenue Department. 1791: Assistant under the Collector of the Ganjam Havelly. 1796: Assistant under the Collector in the Northern Division of the Vizianagram Zemindary. 1798: Paymaster to the Detachment under Lieutenant-Colonel Roberts. 1799: Paymaster to the Army. 1800: Collector of the Third Division of the Vizagapatam District. 1804: Judge of the Zillah of Ganjam. 1806: Judge of the Zillah of Combaconum. 1807: At home. 1811: Returned to India. 1813: Paymaster at the Presidency and of Extraordinaries. 1815: Third Judge and afterwards Second Judge of the Provincial Court, Northern Division. 1821: Senior Judge of the Provincial Court, Centre Division. Died, 26th November 1823, at the Cape of Good Hope.
