CommentA list of Surgeons and Assistant Surgeons serving in Bengal in 1862.

Note that it was important for Surgeons to be able to communicate with their native soldiers and so much importance was placed on their language ability. Many of them "Passed in the Vernacular" i.e. they were able to speak one of the local languages.
