Detail  Purser's steward belonging to the EIMS Sullivan. Limited admon to Mary McCabe, wid. The deceased made a will & appointed John McCabe as his sole executor & universal legatee. McCabe survived the deceaseed but is now dead, & Mary McCabe is his widow. The deceased sailed in the Sullivan from the river Thames in February 1783 to Tillichery at which place ""being seized with a dangerous illness"" he asked John Cleland, the captain's clerk, to make up his will. On the 3 February 1784 the deceased sent for Charles Ross the gunner & Patrick Wallace the boatswain to his cabin where he was sick in bed to be present as witnesses. The will was read to him. The will was given to James Bell the purser, who was asked if it was a valid will. He said it was. It was deposited among the ship's papers.... John McCabe was of Deptford, mariner... the deceased said that he had no relations that wanted anything... the deceased died at 3 AM on the 4 February 1784, a few hours later. The ship was in ""a good deal of confusion and hurry"" at the time, as they were landing some soldiers and warlike stores at Tilichery. Bell believed that the will was lost... £300, Pts
