| Burial Year | 1841 | | Surname | Denby | | Date of Death | 1841, September 26th | | Place of Death | Simla | | Source Year | 1841 | | Source Edition | December 7th | | Entry | We regret to announce the death of Colonel Denby, which occurred on the 26th of September, at Simla, after (as we understand) but a brief illness. "He perished" says our correspondent, "from sheer inanition, having denied himself even rotee mukhun! He died, however, worth from a lac and a half to two lacs of rupees, which will be a consolation to some 'person or persons' in the second generation, probably some young nephews or nieces, for he was himself a single man." It is added, that he had some time time since been enjoined to go to England on account of his health. But he confessed to some of his acquaintance that he derived too much enjoyment from 'accumulating' to forego it even for the sake of health itself." |
