Inscription  To the memory of Lieut.-Colonel Thomas John Anquetil, 44th Regt B.N.I., who was massacred in the performance of his duty, during the insurrection at Jugdulluck, in Affghanistan, at Cabul, while commanding Shah Soojah's force, on the 12th January 1842, aged 60 years. He was a warm-hearted man, and possessed of the strictest integrity, and the most honorable feeling. Erected by his surviving son, Charles Antequil.
