Inscription  Sacred to the Memory of Captain and Brevet-Major John Griffin, of the 24th Regiment Bengal Native Infantry, who fell in the action fought between the British Troops and the Seikhs at Ferozeshah, on the 21st December 1845, aged 47 years. This tablet is erected by his brother officers, as a mark of their admiration of his character as a soldier and as a token of their affection for him as a friend.
