Register Entry  At Madras on the 4th March Thomas French esq 1st assistant Rev and Public Works Dept of Government aged 53 years and 22 days Mr French was nearly 30 years in the Public Service and was a highly meritorious servant of Government He is deeply deplored by a large circle of friends and his loss will be much felt in the Civil Orphan Asylums of which he was for many years the active and kind-hearted Superintendent
