Detail  ABROAD. Count Vidua, a distinguished traveller and amiable man. After residing some time at Amboyna, he went to Menado, and, while travelling, in the interior, had the misfortune to step into a crater of boiling mud and water. Having the presence of mind to throw himself backward, he was extricated from his perilous position by the by-standers; but his right leg was dreadfully burnt, in which state he was conveyed to Ternate, where becoming seriously ill, the Dutch schooner, Ternate, was chartered to take him to Amboyna. The Count, however, did not live to see that place, dying on board at the entrance of the bay.
