He had received a most dreadful wound on the quarter-deck from one of the boarding-party across the face, which produced a shocking laceration; and, at the instant of turning round, he was piked by one of the ruffians just above the hip: this fellow, in his turn, was piked by a Lascar, and killed [page 867 gives an account of the re-taking of the Lord Nelson East Indiaman near Ferrol, off the North-west coast of Spain.
