Detail  At his residence, St. John's Row, Shrewsbury, aged 75, Jonathan Scott, LL.D. He was the third son of Mr. Jonathan Scott, of Shrewsbury� [Left for India aged 12, became a Captain in the EIC, became Persian Secretary, a scholar in Oriental languages & history, became Oriental professor at the Royal Military and East India Colleges, an author on India, married Anne Austin his cousin, two children. Had four brothers, three of whom entered the EIC: John, a Major, who took the name of Waring, & died in 1819; Richard, who entered as a cadet in 1768 & became a Lieut.-Colonel; and Henry, the only survivor, who was of the Bengal Establishment.
