Detail  In Craven-street, Strand, aged 57, George Sayer, esq. Rear Admiral of the Blue, and C.B. Adm. Sayer was a native of Deal, where his father resided as Collector of the Customs for upwards of thirty years� [as a midshipman, 1790-91, served on shore against Tippoo Saib, returned to England in 1793, in 1810 as Captain of the Leda, 42, escorted a fleet of Indiamen to Bengal and was involved in the expedition against Java, and in 1813 against Batavia, then in the China Seas, pages 468-469].
