Detail  Mrs. Mills, wife of Capt. Mills, of Hampstead road. This lady was formerly well known and much admired for her musical talents, first as Miss Birchill, and afterwards as Mrs. Vincent. She left the stage in marrying Capt. Mills, and accompanied him to India. Capt. Mills is the only survivor of those who were in the Black Hole at Calcutta, and signally displayed his humanity in that scene of horror, by resigning his place near the window to the late Mr. Holwell. The latter was dying for lack of air, and had in vain implored of others the same kindness, which was, indeed, a sacrifice of self-preservation in such a dreadful situation as none could expect or hope to obtain.
