Wilson, for the benefit of her health, Mrs. Macquarie, wife of Major M. of his Majesty's 79th regiment. Her remains, which had been preserved in the Chinese manner, were brought to Bombay in the Sarah, Capt. M'Intosh, and interred on Monday the 16th of January, 1797, with all the respect due to the memory of one whose loss has been much and deservedly regretted in the settlement of Bombay; the following gentlemen performing the last friendly office upon this melancholy occasion: Mr. Forbes, chief mourner (supported by Major Cameron and Capt. Mackenzie); pallbearers, Generals Balfour and Nicholson, Commodore Thistleton, Lieutenant-colonels Kerr, Gore and Oakes; besides a numerous train of gentlemen of the first rank and respectability in the settlement.
