Detail  On-board the ill-fated Earl of Abergavenny East India-man, wrecked off Weymouth, outward-bound for Bengal, aged 16, Pynsent Lane, second son of the Rev. John Lane, vicar of Sawbridgeworth, Herts; a youth whose affectionate disposition and engaging manners tenderly endeared him to his relatives and all who knew him. ""Dead ere his prime;/ He will not float upon his wat'ry bier/ Unwept, and welter to the boist'rous wind/ Without the need of many a mournful tear."" The names of the survivors are recorded p. 175 [the shipwreck is described, pages 174-175].
