Detail  At Belmont, Kent, aged 82, the Right Hon. George Lord Harris, of Seringapatam and Mysore in the East indies, and of Belmont in Kent, a General in the Army, Colonel of the 73d foot, Governor of Dumbarton Castle, G.C.B� [Born 18 Mar 1746, son of the Rev. George Harris of Brasted, Kent, by Sarah Twentyman. Became a cadet in the Artillery in 1769, transferred to the infantry as an Ensign in 1762, in 1780 was appointed Governor & Commander in Chief of Madras. He married, 9 Dec 1779, Anne Carteret, coheiress of Charles Dixon of Bath, four sons & 6 daus, including the Hon. Michael Thomas, Collector & Magistrate at Canara, who in 1807 married Emma Mary Money, he died 1824, & the Hon. Musgrave Alured, of the Bombay Civil Service. Pages 80-82].
