[pages 787-788 give much detail on his two living sons, James-Edward, born July 7, 1765, judge of appeals at Moorshedabad, & previously Persian translator, and Henry-Thomas, born June 15, 1765, who is judge at Mirzapoor and an author on law and on Sanskrit. Sir George was an M.P. and Deputy Chairman of the EIC, 1768, and elected Chairman in 1769, 1771 and 1772; he tried to preserve newly acquired territories from being annexed by the Crown, and to preserve the independence of the Company]. |
