Detail  Mr William Bontoft, captains steward of the Europe East Indiaman. He shot himself about six oclock of the evening, in a hackney coach, in Hart-street, Bloomsbury. On the 30th, an inquisition was taken before the coroner, at the committee-room belonging to St. Giless workhouse, when it appearing, that some days previous to his committing this rash act, his mind had been much deranged, and his behaviour very inconsistent, the jury brought in the verdict lunacy. Mr B. was about 25 years of age, and bore a most excellent character. He had put all his investments on board the ship preparatory to his proceeding on the voyage, and took leave of his sister on the 27th, in order to go on board the ship, but did not go further than Billingsgate.
