Inscription  who after being mentioned in despatches for conspicuous bravery during the Relief of Lady Smith was killed in action near Vertersburg in the Orange River Colony. He served in the Poona District from 1883-1891 greatly beloved and admired. This tablet is erected by a few devoted friends of those days in remembrance of his gallant life and death.
