DescriptionThis is the Simla volume (IOR/R/3/2/118). An informal census of British (and other nationalities) residing in Punjab - Lahore district - in the run-up to Independence in 1947. Each Form was to be completed and returned to the Superintendent of Police Punjab, Lahore - without delay.

Movements up to 30 Jun 1948  I retired in England 10 years ago, but flew back last August 1946 with my wife who was summoned by the Doctor to be present with her Mother aged 77 years and suffering from Tic Dou Lou Reux and Heart. The old lady is, however still alive.

Files of the Inspector-General of Police, Punjab, on the enumeration of European British subjects and foreigners resident in various districts. The enumeration was undertaken as part of the planning for the possible need for an emergency evacuation of Europeans.
