CommentThe certificates are divided into 6 parts in number order. To locate an individual name the alphabetical index at the front of part 1 will be required. The Part number needs to be specified when ordering. The part numbers are located in the A-Z index, with reference number is enclosed in () usually at the top right of the Certificate.

Notes  I Donald Campbell Notary Public Island of Jamaica, practising in town of Montego Bay Parish St James county certify that Frances Vicard or Bicard, B Keelor of the Parish of Saint James and that Alexander Davidson and Samuel Jackson are at present the church wardens of same parish, and aforesaid? certify that the names Frances Vicard or Bicard, Alexander Davidson, Samuel Jackson are the hand of writing of the Rector and church wardens of the Parish of Saint James county/Island aforesaid. This varied accumulation represents the surviving records of the East India Companys management of its commercial shipping activity. The series L/MAR/C/669 and 670 deal with Certificates of Age, which were generally in the form of Extracts of Birth/Baptism from Parish Registers, Sworn Affidavits, Letters from Family and Relatives and Letters from ship Commanders.
