Served under Lord Clyde at the taking of Dilkoosha and La Martiniere, storming of the Sekunder Bagh, and relief of the Lucknow Garrison, 22nd November 57. Present at the battle of Cawnpore, 6th December 57. Medal and 2 Clasps. Promoted to the rank of Brevet-Major for services du­ing the Mutiny. Mentioned in the Despatches of Sir A. Wilson, 57; Lord Clyde, 57 (twice); Lieutenant-Colonel Greathed, 58; and Lieutenant-Colonel Cotton, 57. Received the thanks of Government four times, 57.
