Service  Captain Tytler served with the Force under Sir Colin Campbell against the Hill Tribes, in 51, 52; and in the Boori Pass, 53; in defence of the Kumaon Hills and Rohilcund against the rebels, in 57, 58. Present at action of Chapoorah. (Severely wounded.) Victoria Cross. Served in the Campaign in Oude under Brigadier Troup, 58, 59. Present at the actions of Pusgaon, 19th October 58; Russoolpore, 25th October 58; attack and capture of Fort Mittowlee, 8th November 58, and present at the action of Biswah, 1st December 58. Medal.
