Service  Lieutenant Sutherland served during the Mutiny, 57. Present at the two actions at Dumoh, in July 57. Commanded a Squadron, 3rd Irregular Cavalry, at the affair of Ballakote, 1st September 57. Present at the attack on Murriowlee, 18th September 57. Commanded the storming party at the assault and capture of Bhapail, 14th December 57. Brought to the prominent notice of the Brigadier Commanding Saugor Division for gallant behaviour in leading the storming party at Bhapail, by Captain Finch, 17th December 57. Medal.
